Once upon a dream We, my family and I. We wanted to live in a small and comfortable home together. Many different things we considered using to build our shelter, like wood or bricks. And then, one day we began to start thinking. Well we have a plan that is going to go around the world because we chose to make our tiny house from a shipping container! This was not something that most people would have given a second thought, but we figured it might even be ideal for us!
Now, the first part of it is we have to find a shipping container. We looked around for the strongest, toughest one and found this great company called Blue Special Steel. We wanted to stick to that scale just for this size. When we were finally able to receive the container–we would of course have to modify it in nearly every way for a home. Thus, to allow the entry of fresh air and light we added a window to this space, we also put in a door so that the entrances and exits could be easier. We even made a porch, to have some sunlight and fresh air. This is the kitchen we built inside, along with our bathroom and loft — a real home squeeze! We also painted the walls light colours and changed some decorative items to make it (more) homely.
Converting a large metal box to a snug home wasn't the walk in the park I had anticipated. It was something we had to really mull over. So as an example, we needed to learn how to wire things up so that we could have lights and power for cooking. We also worked out how we could heat the house for the winter months. It was a lot of hard work, and we had to get resourceful at times in order to make things happen. It was hard at times, but we pushed through because we believed that the vision was all worth it. Finally, all of our efforts have come to fruition! We made a unique cheap home and called it OURS.
Did you know that shipping containers make great tiny houses? Shipping containers are robust and solid. They are also relatively easy to transport if they need to be relocated. Another benefit is that constructing a house with cargo containers is environmentally friendly. A container is also saving us from throwing away something. What a nice way to benefit our planet wow!! So as well as being a cheaper alternative to wooden/brick/concrete homes, and requiring far more manpower or energy intensive machinery to destroy, building a tiny house out of a shipping container means they can often be assembled quickly too. We could therefore move in sooner and save ourselves money.
It is so peaceful living in our tiny house made from a shipping container. And though it is modest, here we have everything we need to be happy. We have a cozy room to sleep in, a clean kitchen with delicious food and warm room where the whole family is huddled. Sitting on our porch in the evening at watching the beautiful sunsets. When winter comes, we can huddle indoors and stay nice and toasty. My parents also have a beautiful garden in the backyard that we enjoy tending to as well. It is a beautiful place to go and chill & grow fruits and vegetables.
Share it There are numerous benefits of living in a shipping container tiny house. It is first and foremost very inexpensive. The cost of building a house from a shipping container is much more affordable than traditional house. And therefore, a wonderful option for mommas like me! Besides, it is very mobile and adjustable. In theory, we could transport our shipping container and any gizmos in it on a trailer anywhere we want to live. We are doing our bit for this amazing planet by recycling, and there is nothing more fashionable than helping your world become a better place to live.
